Basic movie service ranks amongst StarHub’s top channels in first month
HITS MOVIES ranks 3rd amongst all basic entertainment TV brands on primetime ratings and cumulative reach;
Top 2 in primetime ratings and cumulative reach on StarHub’s FreeView, second only to in-house Chinese entertainment service Hub E City
Rewind Networks’ HITS MOVIES debuts on StarHub with blockbuster ratings in its premiere month. The service launched in Singapore on 1 October 2018 on the Basic Entertainment Group. It is also made available to all StarHub HD subscribers as part of a special free preview promotion.
Amongst 14 Basic Entertainment channels, HITS MOVIES ranked #3 in primetime ratings. As the channel is currently on free preview to all StarHub HD subscribers, HITS MOVIES also ranked #2 out of 14 FreeView channels in primetime ratings, trailing only the widely watched Chinese entertainment in-house service Hub E City.
“HITS MOVIES’ blockbuster debut on StarHub is a testament to the strength of our core proposition of The Best... All in One Place,” said Avi Himatsinghani, CEO, Rewind Networks. “At Rewind we are very focussed and committed to drive consumption and deliver new value for anyone who is a basic entry level pack subscriber – either via a traditional set top box or an OTT aggregator app. We launched HITS MOVIES as an entry tier movie proposition for all subscribers”
“We have long believed that the subscription video ecosystem will thrive and that consumers will stay and pay if they see value, spend more time and consume more services via their pay-TV subscriptions.,” he added.
HITS MOVIES’ phenomenal debut resulted in close to 315,000 viewers tuning in to HITS MOVIES regularly throughout the month. That is a significant number, given that HITS MOVIES is currently only available on the StarHub subscriber base in Singapore.
On the expansion plans for HITS MOVIES, Himatsighani said, “Rewind Networks looks forward to replicating our Singapore success on other platforms and markets across our Asian footprint. Our pay TV affiliate partners need more of these solidly curated branded entertainment destinations that can deliver strong consumption and complement their local content strategy.”
HITS MOVIES adopts a clear programming strategy which positions the channel as a strongly curated playlist, where viewers will find familiar, well-loved titles like The Terminator, Grease, Flashdance and Star Trek: The Motion Picture, The Italian Job, Fatal Attraction. In the coming months, viewers can expect more iconic films such as Forrest Gump, Ghost, Superman, Beverly Hills Cop and Robocop, among many others.
